Introducing Psychological Safety, Trust, and Engagement
Learning is a biopsychosocial process and each student has a different profile of biopsychosocial needs, strengths, and vulnerabilities. An educator must understand and be responsive to the each students’ individual profile while simultaneously preserving and maintaining a classroom community that also meets the unique biopsychosocial needs of the collective group.
In this module, we will explore the biopsychosocial approach to learning, examine what such an approach requires of practitioners, and learn how a biopsychosocial approach meets universal learning needs while simultaneously meeting the unique needs of vulnerable learners.

Learn how biopsychosocial factors impact trust-building and examine the role that vulnerabilities such as chronic stress and trauma play in cognitive processing, memory, and the student learning experience. We will examine the reaction model and power model and then examine 8 behaviors that Master Educators engage to reduce barriers, foster trust and promote relationships of transparency and trust with vulnerable learners.
In this module, we will explore biopsychosocial strategies that compassionate and responsively meet the psycho-emotional needs of students and we will learn how to use the subtle art of language framing to diminish power struggles and reduce barriers that can prevent vulnerable learners from attachment and from trusting people in positions of authority, influence, and privilege (such as teachers).
